# Derelict — ISV Sable Dawn — room key

ISV Sable Dawn is under quarantine, by its own crew, in the end by whoever was left. Something came aboard in a cargo lot and moved through the ship in days. Medbay is sealed. There are marks on the doors, from the inside.

Last log entry: Deckhand Okafor.

Hook: Two crew are missing and the pods are all here.

## Upper deck

**1. Bridge**

Three stations; one chair is bolted at a strange angle.
Hazard: bodies, arranged. Someone took care over this. Disturb them and the air changes.

**2. Crew quarters**

Dark. Emergency lighting only. Two bunks stripped; nobody says why.
Hazard: one bunk is still occupied and the occupant is still warm.

**3. Galley**

Dark. Emergency lighting only. Long table. Someone always leaves a mug out.

**4. Medbay**

Runs on battery. Something was treated here recently.
Hazard: contagion. The isolation field failed with the power. Anyone who breathes here unfiltered is part of the story now.

**5. Cargo hold**

Dark. Emergency lighting only. Sealed containers. The manifest says "agricultural".
Log fragment (Deckhand): "Lot 14 was breathing when we loaded it. Told the XO. XO said crates don't breathe."

**6. Cargo hold**

Vacuum. Suit up. Netting, straps, one crate not on any list.
Salvage: forty crates. Lot 14 is open. The others are worth a fortune to someone who does not ask where they came from.

**7. Engineering**

Reactor scrammed. Manual restart: twenty minutes, two people.

**8. Lab**

Something moved in here — recently. Quarantine sign on the door. Inside, everything is very clean.

**9. Escape pods**

All pods gone.
Log fragment (Dr.): "Fever, then the calm. The calm is the dangerous part. Adeyemi was fine at breakfast."

**10. Life support**

Vacuum. Suit up. Air is thin here. The gauges disagree with each other.
Hazard: the filters are grey with growth. Air is breathable for now; the gauges do not agree on how long.

**11. Hangar**

Dark. Emergency lighting only. One shuttle, fuelled. Bay doors are manual.

**12. Drive section**

Main engines. Loud, hot, hostile.
Log fragment (Cpt.): "Set the beacon to WARN OFF. If a ship answers anyway, they were warned."

**1. Cargo hold**

Cold. Frost on every surface. Netting, straps, one crate not on any list.
Salvage: full trauma kit, sealed, and a case of broad-spectrum antivirals that did not work.

Dark. Emergency lighting only. Scrubbers and water reclaim. Pump 2 knocks.

**3. Escape pods**

Vacuum. Suit up. Four pods; two show green.

**4. Engineering**

Reactor scrammed. Manual restart: twenty minutes, two people.

**5. Lab**

Vacuum. Suit up. Quarantine sign on the door. Inside, everything is very clean.
