# Derelict — FTV Osprey — room key

FTV Osprey went dark on a long haul when the main bus dropped and would not come back. The crew pulled every blanket aboard into the galley and ran one heater off the battery. The battery lasted sixty hours. The cold has lasted longer.

Last log entry: XO Petrov.

Hook: Moreau's mother filed a claim, and the company told her the ship was never lost.

## Upper deck

**1. Bridge**

Nav plot frozen on the last fix. Somebody wrote the numbers on the glass.
Log fragment (Nav): "Sent the mayday on the last of the capacitor. If anyone heard, they have not said."

**2. Crew quarters**

Bunks stripped. One is made, tight, the way the service teaches it.

**3. Galley**

The coffee machine is still warm. The rations are gone.
Hazard: the crew, together, under every blanket aboard. They were breathing until quite recently.

**4. Medbay**

Dark. Emergency lighting only. Battery light blinking. The last treatment is still on the screen.
Hazard: the autodoc is frozen mid-cycle with a patient still inside.
Salvage: the patient in the autodoc is in cryostasis, not dead. The autodoc did what it could.

**5. Cargo hold**

Dark. Emergency lighting only. Manifest on the wall, half the lines crossed out in marker.
Salvage: perishables, perfectly preserved. A fortune in frozen produce for anyone who can get it to port frozen.

**6. Cargo hold**

Manifest on the wall, half the lines crossed out in marker.
Hazard: frost on every surface, thick enough to hide the floor. Grates, drops and open hatches are all the same white.

**7. Engineering**

Scram lever pulled and wired down so it stays pulled.
Hazard: the bus is one bad contact from live. Bringing power back brings everything back, including whatever tripped it.

**8. Lab**

The notes stop mid-word. The pen is on the floor.

**9. Escape pods**

All pods gone.
Log fragment (pod panel): pods checked at hour 40, all present. Cpt. code. Nobody launched.

**10. Life support**

Something moved in here — recently. Scrubbers dead. The air is whatever is left.

**11. Hangar**

Empty cradle. Scorch marks.

**12. Drive section**

Cold. The torch has not fired in weeks.

Log fragment (Eng.): "Bus dropped. Not the reactor — the reactor is fine. Something between the reactor and us said no."
