# Derelict — Calloway Station — room key

Calloway Station is under quarantine, by its own crew, in the end by whoever was left. Something came aboard in a cargo lot and moved through the station in days. Medbay is sealed. There are marks on the doors, from the inside.

Last log entry: Dr. Reyes. Their trail runs through three rooms.

Hook: The beacon says WARN OFF. Somebody switched it back to MAYDAY an hour ago.

## Hub deck

**1. Central hub**

Something moved in here — recently. Traffic control dark. The customs desk still has a queue rope up.
Hazard: bodies, arranged. Someone took care over this. Disturb them and the air changes.

**2. Hangar**

Dark. Emergency lighting only. Shuttle still here, hatch open, seats empty.

**3. Bridge**

Consoles dark. One chair is turned to face the door.

**4. Cargo hold**

Straps cut. Whatever was lashed here left in a hurry.
Log fragment (Deckhand): "Lot 14 was breathing when we loaded it. Told the XO. XO said crates don't breathe."
Salvage: forty crates. Lot 14 is open. The others are worth a fortune to someone who does not ask where they came from.
Trail 2/3: A second log hidden behind a panel, kept by Reyes. It disagrees with the official one about one thing, and that thing is in the lift lobby (1, ring deck).

**5. Engineering**

Scram lever pulled and wired down so it stays pulled.

## Ring deck

**1. Lift lobby**

Vacuum. Suit up. Lift and stairs up to the hub.
Trail 3/3: Where Reyes's private log pointed. Under a deck plate, in a sealed sample bag: Dr. Reyes's recorder. It covers the last day, and it is the only account aboard from someone who was there.

**2. Crew quarters**

Lockers open. Whatever was worth taking has been taken.
Log fragment (XO): "Kowalczyk is calm now. I have locked her in. I have told her it is for the fever."

**3. Crew quarters**

Cold. Frost on every surface. Bunks stripped. One is made, tight, the way the service teaches it.
Hazard: one bunk is still occupied and the occupant is still warm.

**4. Lab**

One sample tray labelled and signed. The rest are blank.
Hazard: broken sample cases. The floor is wet and it is not water.
Trail 1/3: A note taped up at eye height, signed Reyes: "If you are reading this, check the cargo hold (4, hub deck) before you trust anything in the log."

**5. Medbay**

Autodoc stopped mid-cycle. The patient is not in it.
Log fragment (Dr.): "Fever, then the calm. The calm is the dangerous part. Adeyemi was fine at breakfast."
Salvage: full trauma kit, sealed, and a case of broad-spectrum antivirals that did not work.
