# Derelict — Wayfarer Station — room key

Wayfarer Station lost power, then heat, then everyone. A cascade fault dropped the bus mid-shift, with the tender a week out and the crew could not bring it back. They gathered in the warmest room and waited. The station has been at minus sixty for a long time.

Last log entry: Cpt. Adeyemi. Their trail runs through three rooms.

Hook: Bring the bus back and the station comes back — and the mayday resends, and someone answers.

## Hub deck

**1. Central hub**

Something moved in here — recently. Traffic control dark. The customs desk still has a queue rope up.

**2. Bridge**

Nav plot frozen on the last fix. Somebody wrote the numbers on the glass.

**3. Engineering**

Cold. Frost on every surface. Panels off, parts sorted on the deck by someone who ran out of time.
Hazard: the bus is one bad contact from live. Bringing power back brings everything back, including whatever tripped it, and a bare hand on the wrong contact takes a hard shock.
Log fragment (Eng.): "Bus dropped. Not the reactor — the reactor is fine. Something between the reactor and us said no."
Salvage: the fault. A single component, expensive, sabotaged. Fit a spare and the station lives.

**4. Lab**

The notes stop mid-word. The pen is on the floor.

**5. Cargo hold**

Containers cut open, not unlocked.
Hazard: frost on every surface, thick enough to hide the floor. Grates, drops and open hatches are all the same white.

**6. Cargo hold**

Straps cut. Whatever was lashed here left in a hurry.
Salvage: perishables, perfectly preserved. A fortune in frozen produce for anyone who can get it to port frozen.

## Ring deck

**1. Lift lobby**

Lift and stairs up to the hub.

**2. Medbay**

Autodoc stopped mid-cycle.
Hazard: the autodoc is frozen mid-cycle with a patient still inside. Its battery is spiking: a bare hand on the casing takes a hard shock.
Trail 3/3: The arrows stop here. Cpt. Adeyemi's recorder is wedged behind a pipe where nobody passing would see it. It holds the last day, start to finish.

**3. Lab**

One sample tray labelled and signed. The rest are blank.

**4. Crew quarters**

Lockers open. Whatever was worth taking has been taken.
Log fragment, on a slate held in a frozen hand: "hour 58. still here. tell Moreau's mother"
Trail 2/3: More chalk. Adeyemi slept here at least one night: a bedroll, ration wrappers, and the same arrow, pointing to the medbay (2, ring deck).

**5. Galley**

Table set for six. Frost on the plates.
Hazard: the crew, together, under every blanket aboard. They were breathing until quite recently. Lifting the blankets lets the last pocket of air out: everyone here checks against the cold at once.
Log fragment (Cpt.): "Moved everyone to the galley. One heater on the battery. Sixty hours, the engineer says. Then the battery."
Trail 1/3: Chalk marks on the door frame, Adeyemi's tally of the days. Below the last mark, an arrow and two words: "the crew quarters (4, ring deck)".
