# Derelict — ICV Gallowglass — room key

ICV Gallowglass took a micrometeoroid swarm broadside about six weeks ago. Half the hull is open to space, the rest is holding by habit. Crew of five. One pod launched; the bodies aboard do not account for the rest.

Last log entry: Dr. Okafor. Their trail runs through three rooms.

Hook: The debris that did this is on a known orbit, and it comes back through in nine days.

## Main deck

**1. Bridge**

Something moved in here — recently. Nav plot frozen on the last fix. Somebody wrote the numbers on the glass.
Hazard: shattered viewport, edges razor-fine. Suit tears on contact.
Log fragment (Nav): "Debris field not on any chart. Cpt. says ride it out. We are riding it out."
Salvage: a crew locker, still locked. A month's pay in hard chits and a photograph nobody is coming back for.
Way in: only across the breach. The way that led here went with the hull, so getting in means crossing open space.

**2. Cargo hold**

Straps cut. Whatever was lashed here left in a hurry.
Salvage: forty crates of machine parts, twelve of them worth carrying. One is marked with a shipping line that no longer exists.

**3. Escape pods**

Vacuum. Suit up. One cradle empty. The rest still docked, cold.
Hazard: hull plate hanging by two rivets. Touch it and it goes, with whoever is holding it.
Trail 1/3: Dr. Okafor's slate, screen cracked. The last entry: "Going to the drive section (5). Back in ten." Nothing after it.

**4. Crew quarters**

Lockers open. Whatever was worth taking has been taken.
Hazard: floor buckled; the lower half of this room is a drop into the void.
Log fragment, handwritten: "If you find this, the pod took Reyes and the kid. Do not look for us in the hull."
Trail 3/3: The code from the last room opens the locker here. Inside, Okafor's own recording of the last day, start to finish.

**5. Drive section**

Dark. Emergency lighting only. Fuel gauges at zero. The log says they were not.
Log fragment (Eng.): "Patched the aft seam twice. It will not hold a third time. Told her. She knows."
Trail 2/3: Okafor got this far. One set of boot prints in the dust, heading for the crew quarters (4), and a door code scratched into the frame.
