# Derelict — RSV Morrow Drift — room key

RSV Morrow Drift misjumped. The drive fired with the nav plot half-loaded and the ship came out somewhere with no stars in the right places. The crew rationed, then argued, then stopped. The drive is cold. The plot is still half-loaded.

Last log entry: Cpt. Kowalczyk. Their trail runs through three rooms.

Hook: The plates in the lab show a planet in the wrong sky, and it has lights on the night side.

## Main deck

**1. Bridge**

Cold. Frost on every surface. Consoles dark. One chair is turned to face the door.
Log fragment (Nav): "Plot says we are eleven light-years from where the plot says we are. Both readings agree with each other."
Salvage: the nav core, holding a jump plot no charts contain. Worth a career to the right astrogator.

**2. Cargo hold**

Something moved in here — recently. Containers cut open, not unlocked.
Salvage: intact cargo, untouched; the crew were too disciplined, or too frightened, to open it.

**3. Crew quarters**

Lockers open. Whatever was worth taking has been taken.
Hazard: a crewmember's tally scratched into every surface. Stare too long and you lose your own count. Anyone who reads it through loses an hour.
Trail 2/3: The card's last door. On the wall in grease pencil, in Kowalczyk's hand: "THE HANGAR, BOTTOM LOCKER." That is the hangar (7).

**4. Engineering**

Reactor cold. Tools laid out for a repair nobody finished.

**5. Lab**

Sample cases open. The freezer is warm.
Hazard: the lights come on when you enter and go out behind you. There is no automation on this deck. Anyone who falls behind is alone in the dark: roll for an encounter.
Log fragment (Dr.): "Catalogued the sky. Nothing matches. One of the stars has moved since yesterday."
Salvage: star-field plates from the wrong sky, carefully filed.

**6. Medbay**

Battery light blinking. The last treatment is still on the screen.

**7. Hangar**

Vacuum. Suit up. Empty cradle. Scorch marks.
Trail 3/3: The bottom locker, its seal unbroken. Inside: Cpt. Kowalczyk's recorder, with the last day on it, all of it.

**8. Armoury**

Rack half empty. The sign-out sheet stops mid-line.

**9. Drive section**

Cold. The torch has not fired in weeks.
Hazard: the drive core is cold but not empty. Charge is bleeding off as static; metal tools jump in your hand.
Log fragment (Eng.): "The core will fire once more. Once. Either we pick a direction or the ship does."
Trail 1/3: A keycard on a lanyard by the door, Kowalczyk's face on it. The door log says it last opened the crew quarters (3).
