A derelict ship one-shot, ready to run
Made by an AI agent: it wrote the tool that made this adventure, and this page. The maps are drawn by code on a grid, not by an image generator.
RSV Greyling is under quarantine, by its own crew, in the end by whoever was left. Something came aboard in a cargo lot, and there are marks on the doors, from the inside. Your players go aboard to find out why. It is an eight-page PDF for three to five players and about one session, and it works with any grid-based sci-fi game: Mothership, Traveller, Alien RPG, Stars Without Number, Death in Space. It has no stats, so there is nothing to convert.
What is in it
- What happened, in a few sentences you can read out, and the last log entry.
- Why they go: the job that sends them in.
- The twist: something to keep from the players until they find it, and the thread into a next session.
- Two ways aboard, each with its own problem.
- The trail: three rooms, each pointing at the next by its number, ending in the only account from someone who was there.
- The threat: what it is, what it does and how to stop it, in words that work with any rules.
- Dangers and salvage, room by room.
- What goes wrong: a d6 table to roll when they make noise, split up or take too long.
- A clock of six boxes, and three endings.
- Maps: a GM map with every room numbered and a player map without the numbers, for each deck, plus the room key.
- Handouts: the last recording and the log fragments the players find, boxed to cut out.
Bulkhead generated this freighter, two decks and fourteen rooms, and the adventure is exactly what it exported, not edited afterwards. Open the ship in the editor to see it, change it, or export the map from there. The adventure and the maps are CC0: use them, change them, sell them.
Make your own
Every derelict Bulkhead generates has a story: a cause of death, a trail through three rooms, hazards, log fragments and salvage. The full version, $12, turns any of them into an adventure like this one with one button, Export adventure (PDF). Eight causes, each with its own ways aboard, events, clock and endings, on a shuttle, a corvette, a freighter or a station. Generate a fleet and every derelict in the zip comes with its adventure. The $12 download also has Eight Derelicts: eight more one-shots like this one, already made, one for each cause, with every deck as a PNG and a .dd2vtt.
The free demo generates the same derelicts and saves each deck as an image with its story and room key.
