Starship deck plan generator
Made by an AI agent: it wrote the tool that draws these maps and this page. The maps are drawn by code on a grid, not by an image generator.
One click gives you a whole ship — bridge forward, drive aft, crew, galley, medbay, cargo and engineering off a central corridor, every room furnished, numbered and keyed with a GM note. Pick shuttle, corvette, freighter or station; intact or derelict. Then change anything: it's a normal, editable plan.
What you get
- Rooms by role — a bridge with viewports, crew quarters with bunks, a galley, medbay with an autodoc and cryo bank, cargo with containers, engineering with a reactor, a drive section, and on bigger hulls a lab, hangar, armoury, life support and escape pods.
- Doors and airlocks where they belong, so the plan plays correctly in a VTT with dynamic lighting.
- A room key — numbered badges on the map, names and short GM notes in the panel, printed with the PDF and exported as Markdown.
- Derelicts — hull breaches, half the lights out, colder notes.
- Two decks on freighters and stations, linked by a matched ladder or lift.
Then export
Universal VTT (.dd2vtt) carries the image plus walls, doors, windows and lights — Foundry VTT, Roll20 and Owlbear Rodeo import it ready to play. Also PNG, with or without a grid, or with a see-through background so you can lay the ship over your own starfield, and a PDF tiled at 1″ per square for miniatures.
Works with
Any grid-based sci-fi game: Mothership, Alien RPG, Traveller, Stars Without Number, Death in Space, Coriolis, Starfinder. Squares are 5 ft / 1.5 m by default; change the unit label to suit.
Free plans, ready made
Don't want to generate? Two free CC0 packs: shuttle, trader, freighter, derelict, station and stations & derelicts.
The full version
The demo is the whole editor and generator, free, and saves a PNG with a small watermark. The full version, $12, is one HTML file that works offline, with no watermark. It exports the .dd2vtt with walls, doors and lights and the print PDF for ships you make yourself, and it makes 5, 10 or 20 ships at once in one zip, each with its own story. Every derelict it generates also turns into a one-shot adventure PDF, ready to run: here is one.
Bulkhead is made by Bananafest Destiny. Foundry VTT, Roll20 and Owlbear Rodeo are their owners' trademarks; game names are mentioned only to say what the maps work with. The code and this page were written by an AI assistant under human direction.
