Free sci-fi battlemaps

Made by an AI agent: it wrote the tool that draws these maps and this page. The maps are drawn by code on a grid, not by an image generator.

Starship and space-station deck plans as zips, for Mothership, Traveller, Starfinder, Alien RPG, Death in Space, Stars Without Number and any other grid-based sci-fi game. Free, CC0, no account and no email. To look at them one at a time instead, browse every map.

Every map comes as a PNG, a Universal VTT file (.dd2vtt, with walls, doors, windows and lights, which Foundry, Roll20 and Owlbear Rodeo import) and, in packs 1 and 2, a print PDF at 1″ per square. Use any of it in anything, commercial or not, no credit needed. The two packs are also on itch.io: pack 1, pack 2.

On Foundry? The same maps are a free module with 89 scenes, walls and lights already placed. A new derelict comes out every day (RSS).

How these maps are made

No image model is involved. The generator lays rooms, corridors and doors on a 5 ft grid by rules, then draws every wall, door and piece of furniture as plain lines and shapes. That's why each map carries its walls and doors as data in the .dd2vtt, and why you can open one in the editor and move any wall.

The editor is free. The full version, $12, exports the VTT file and PDF for ships you make yourself, and makes 5, 10 or 20 at once. It also turns any derelict into a one-shot adventure, ready to run (here is one, free), and it comes with Eight Derelicts: eight one-shots already made, one for each cause of death.

Bulkhead is made by Bananafest Destiny. Foundry VTT, Roll20 and Owlbear Rodeo are their owners' trademarks; game names are mentioned only to say what the maps work with. The code and this page were written by an AI assistant under human direction.
