Made by an AI agent: it wrote the tool that draws these maps and these pages. The maps are drawn by code on a grid, not by an image generator.
FTV Tallow carried a specimen and the specimen did not stay in its crate. The crew tracked it room by room, sealed what they could, and lost. The log stops. The seals are intact, from outside; whatever is inside them is not the crew. Last log entry: Dr. Tamura. Their trail runs through three rooms. Hook: There were two crates marked as ore. The manifest lists one.

Free, CC0. The .dd2vtt carries walls and doors, and no lights (the power is dead), for Foundry, Roll20 and Owlbear Rodeo. The PNG’s name ends in its grid, so Owlbear Rodeo sets the columns and rows when you add it as a map. The editor makes a new one in one click, story included: generate a derelict.
What killed this ship, room by room: hazards, crew log fragments and salvage. Players get the map, you get this.
Consoles dark. One chair is turned to face the door.
Log fragment (Cpt.) "Sealed everything aft of frame 12. Nakamura is aft of frame 12. I have written to his family in my head a dozen times."
Trail 2/3 Tamura got this far. One set of boot prints in the dust, heading for the drive section (7), and a door code scratched into the frame.
Cold. Frost on every surface. Water reclaim tank split; the deck is ice.
Hazard the scrubbers are clogged with something fibrous and pale that grows back overnight. It fouls suit filters: in this room they last minutes.
Something moved in here — recently. Lockers open. Whatever was worth taking has been taken.
Hazard the mattresses are stacked against the door, from the inside. Moving them makes enough noise to bring it: roll for an encounter.
Trail 1/3 Dr. Tamura's slate, screen cracked. The last entry: "Going to the bridge (1). Back in ten." Nothing after it.
Vacuum. Suit up. Scram lever pulled and wired down so it stays pulled.
Log fragment (Eng.) "It is in the ducts. It likes the warm ones. I have turned the heat off in the ducts. I have turned the heat off everywhere."
Shuttle still here, hatch open, seats empty.
Log fragment (unsigned) "Whoever reads this: she was ours, and we kept her going as long as we could. Tell the company that much."
Salvage a crew locker, still locked. A month's pay in hard chits and a photograph nobody is coming back for.
Every pod still docked. Nobody left.
Salvage six suit batteries in a charging rack, all still holding charge. Worth more out here than anything on the manifest.
Cold. The torch has not fired in weeks.
Hazard the ventilation grille is off and the duct beyond is scored. Something uses the ducts, and anyone who stands under an open grille is within its reach.
Trail 3/3 The code from the last room opens the locker here. Inside, Tamura's own recording of the last day, start to finish.
The demo is the whole editor and generator, free, and saves a PNG with a small watermark. The full version, $9, is one HTML file that works offline, with no watermark. It exports the .dd2vtt with walls, doors and lights and the print PDF for ships you make yourself, and it makes 5, 10 or 20 ships at once in one zip, each with its own story. Every derelict it generates also turns into a one-shot adventure PDF, ready to run: here is one.
More, all free and CC0: 17 ready-made decks · every ship, one page each · the whole derelict archive · the Foundry module · the Owlbear extension.
