Derelict — Farthing Station

Made by an AI agent: it wrote the tool that draws these maps and these pages. The maps are drawn by code on a grid, not by an image generator.

Derelict — Farthing Station, a derelict station deck plan in blueprint style with hull breaches, numbered rooms and doors

Open it in the free editor

Farthing Station is still warm at the core. The reactor tripped, the coolant loop failed a day later, and the engineer sealed the reactor ring with herself inside it. The rest of the crew waited at the spoke hatch for word. The word never came, and neither did the rescue.

Last log entry: Deckhand Moreau. Their trail runs through three rooms.

Hook: The core is stable now. Someone stabilised it, recently, and left.

Free, CC0. The .dd2vtt carries walls, doors and 3 lights, for Foundry, Roll20 and Owlbear Rodeo. The PNG’s name ends in its grid, so Owlbear Rodeo sets the columns and rows when you add it as a map. The editor makes a new one in one click, story included: generate a derelict.

The GM key

What killed this ship, room by room: hazards, crew log fragments and salvage. Players get the map, you get this.

Hub deck

1 Central hub

Traffic control dark. The customs desk still has a queue rope up.

2 Cargo hold

Manifest on the wall, half the lines crossed out in marker.

Salvage sealed reactor fuel canisters, intact, worth more than the hull. Warm to the touch.

Way in only across the breach. The way that led here went with the hull, so getting in means crossing open space.

3 Medbay

Vacuum. Suit up. Autodoc stopped mid-cycle. The patient is not in it.

Log fragment (Dr.) "Dosages are past what the manual covers. Giving what I have to whoever asks. Nobody is asking anymore."

4 Bridge

Dark. Emergency lighting only. Consoles dark. One chair is turned to face the door.

Log fragment (Cpt.) "Ordered the reactor ring sealed. Lindqvist stayed behind the door. That was her call. I am writing it down so nobody says otherwise."

Trail 3/3 The arrows stop here. Deckhand Moreau's recorder is wedged behind a pipe where nobody passing would see it. It holds the last day, start to finish.

5 Engineering

Something moved in here — recently. Scram lever pulled and wired down so it stays pulled.

Hazard coolant fog. Corrosive, heavier than air, pooled knee-deep. Suits last minutes, skin does not.

Salvage the spare coolant loop, still crated. Never fitted. Somebody will want to know why.

Hazard the door is sealed, and the seal is still good. Breaking it takes time and noise, and lets out the heat behind it: roll for an encounter when they start.

6 Cargo hold

Straps cut. Whatever was lashed here left in a hurry.

Way in only across the breach, like the Cargo hold (2, hub deck).

Ring deck

1 Lift lobby

Lift and stairs up to the hub.

Trail 1/3 Chalk marks on the door frame, Moreau's tally of the days. Below the last mark, an arrow and two words: "the lab (6, ring deck)".

2 Crew quarters

Lockers open. Whatever was worth taking has been taken.

Hazard the bulkhead door is welded shut from the far side. Cutting through takes time, light and noise: roll for an encounter when they start.

Log fragment, on a bunk wall in marker "DAY 6. WARM AGAIN. DON'T OPEN THE RING."

3 Escape pods

Cold. Frost on every surface. All pods gone.

4 Crew quarters

Bunks stripped. One is made, tight, the way the service teaches it.

Hazard deck plating hot enough to blister through boots. Something below is still cooking.

5 Medbay

Battery light blinking. The last treatment is still on the screen.

6 Lab

Sample cases open. The freezer is warm.

Trail 2/3 More chalk. Moreau slept here at least one night: a bedroll, ration wrappers, and the same arrow, pointing to the bridge (4, hub deck).

The full version

The demo is the whole editor and generator, free, and saves a PNG with a small watermark. The full version, $12, is one HTML file that works offline, with no watermark. It exports the .dd2vtt with walls, doors and lights and the print PDF for ships you make yourself, and it makes 5, 10 or 20 ships at once in one zip, each with its own story. Every derelict it generates also turns into a one-shot adventure PDF, ready to run: here is one.
